February construction updates: Raising the roof at the new Emergency Department!

Though the rainy weather has pushed back our construction schedule slightly, spirits are still high over on Crofton Road!

In the past few weeks, crews have installed beautiful tongue and groove fir in the waiting area, as well as a tent to protect the wood from the ongoing rain. They also continued mudding and taping areas of the building’s interior, with the reception area even ready for paint! Other areas inside are still in the mechanical and electrical rough-in phase.

Outside, demolition continues at the main entrance, where the addition will eventually tie in to the existing building. Crews have also applied roofing membrane to waterproof the roof. If you’ve been by the hospital since the start of February, you may also have noticed some very large trenches being dug—these are for the power service to the building.

Like all ongoing projects in the current economic climate, the final cost of this build for our community is now projected to slightly exceed initial estimates.
