The President's Message - January 2010

On behalf of the Foundation I thank all our donors once again for their extremely generous support during 2009. Your donations as always were much appreciated especially during such difficult economic times.

I also wish you all and the hospital staff a very happy and healthy New Year. We continue to receive letters of appreciation from patients and their loved ones telling us about the wonderful care they have received at the hands of the hospital personnel. These letters often describe in detail how caring, compassionate, and thoughtful the medical staff have been notwithstanding how stressful and very busy they invariably are.

This was very evident during the recent festive season when the Extended Care Unit staff gave the residents and their families a wonderful Christmas celebration.

We are truly very fortunate to have such dedicated people and this no doubt contributes hugely to the many donations we constantly receive.

We are also very grateful to and thank the volunteers of the Ladies Auxiliary for their never-ending energy in their valuable work at the Thrift Shop and the hospital.

We are looking forward to receipt of the results of the VIHA Health Needs Assessment for Salt Spring Island which is due to be completed at the end of January 2010.This will hopefully provide us with much needed information to assess how we can be more helpful in contributing to the hospital’s greater needs.
